MY GREATEST PASSION IS NOT ART. It’s music. I play piano by ear. American Songbook, blues and rock and roll. My art process is not dissimilar to my musical one. At first, it’s visceral but moves into the dance of creative and intellectual response.

I tried making a career out of music. Not for me. I majored in art in college thinking that I would teach art at the high school level. That never happened either. But my art education did get me into the door of a small newspaper in Newton, MA. And after that, the Real Paper, Boston Monthly and finally The Boston Globe where I was employed for the next 29 years until I retired as Managing Director for New Product Development. Before that I worked as a designer or art director on every section of the paper eventually becoming Deputy Managing Editor for Design and Photography. I’ve worked with the most passionate and brilliant writers, editors, photographers, designers and illustrators in the most satisfying, creative and collaborative way. And I sat on the page one desk for some of the most important, exciting and terrifying stories of our time. When I left The Globe, I suffered from a huge case of What Next? What next is the work you will find here on my website.
